Parc Güell

Today after language orientation, Sarah and I hopped on the metro and got off four stops later so we could head to Parc Güell, a place we were very excited about visiting prior to coming to Spain. It definitely lived up to all our expectations as the structure itself was absolutely beautiful, and the views were breathtaking. I am not even sure the pictures can do it justice.

Parc Güell, for those of you who are unfamiliar, as I was before coming to Spain, was supposed to be a neighborhood as per the plans of Count Eusebi Güell, but it proved to be unsuccessful and is now a municipal garden that features many mosaics, flowers, and interesting architecture. There are many pathways to the top, each one just as scenic as the last. As you climb higher and higher, you get an even greater view of Barcelona, and on a beautiful sunny day like today, it was just beautiful and I hope each one of you gets the opportunity to walk around and see the beauty that is Parc Güell. Sarah and I loved it, and we enjoyed eating our apples overlooking the entire city and then climbing down to feel a nice breeze coming from the sea. It made us even more excited to go to the beach tomorrow, I just hope the weather is as nice tomorrow as it has been today!

Beautiful flowers

Not a part of Parc Guell, but I love all the colors everywhere!
After doing our first official Barcelona touristy- thing, Sarah and I both agreed that we are just pooped and heading back to the dorm sounded like the most appealing plan. I thought we walked a lot in Austin, but it's nothing compared to the walking we do in Spain. My legs are feelin' it, but it is also such a great way to discover different parts of the city - hidden markets, restaurants, and bakeries that you might not be able to see if you were on the bus or in a car. We are loving our time here, and hoping to do  as much as we can before our classes officially start. Even then we will still be trying to accomplish as much as we can while still keeping up with our classwork, and though we know that we can't possibly do everything, there is no reason not to try and cross as many things off of our bucket lists as possible! We'll just have to come back one day and cross off all the rest! Enjoy the remainder of your day - a nap and a quick workout are in the books for us! Hasta leugo!
