Eat Well: Ruggles Green

I know I have mentioned this restaurant on the blog before, but I think it deserves its own post. I enjoyed a wonderful lunch with a friend from school who was in the area, so I decided it was the perfect time to talk up one of my all-time favorite restaurants.

First of all, it is located smack dab in the middle of City Centre, which as I have mentioned before features fine dining, excellent shopping, a movie theatre, a gym, live music, and just a fun atmosphere. Parking can be pretty frustrating sometimes, but that is just a testament to how popular a place it is. So, in my mind, being able to enjoy some incredible food whilst enjoying an incredible view is a huge plus.

Second, the food is top-of-the-line. I have mentioned before that I usually find something at a restaurant that I like, and never stray from it. Ruggles Green is one of the few restaurants in which I (generally) order something new every time I go. I have never been disappointed, and I always leave with a happy stomach. Both for the reason that it is the recipient of some delicious food, and because I know that delicious food is also good for me because they use local, organic, and naturally-grown ingredients. And the best part is that though the food is extremely healthy, you don't have to sacrifice in the taste department, so those who turn up their noses at healthy food will be forced to reconsider.

Fish Tacos - yes, there is fish under all that cabbage!
Along with how good the food is, there is a such a wide variety of options on the menu that you should almost certainly find something that is to your liking. From salads to burgers, and pizzas to tacos, there is truly something for everyone. And I can't say enough about their sweet potato fries - they make any already-great meal even better. And though I haven't had the chance to try one of their delectable-looking desserts, the sight of them always make my mouth water.

And to end my review on this five-star restaurant, Ruggles Green is Houston's first four-star Certified Green Restaurant, and only the second in the nation. What does this mean? Well, it basically means that it is extremely environmentally friendly, and it surpassed all requirements to become such a restaurant.

A beautiful day for some delicious food
Ruggles Green gets five stars in my book, and if you are ever in the area, I highly recommend giving it a try. I promise you won't regret it!

  1. Hi Kelli,

My name is Kelsie and I recently joined the Healthy Living Bloggers out there and started up my own blog at www.runningathousandmiles.com. I am based in the Austin area like you and was wanting to gauge the interest level of other Austinite bloggers and see if there were enough responses to schedule some Happy Hours every so often with a big group of us? That way we can get to know each other and share any great tips and tricks with each other.

Let me know if that's something you might be interested and I'll put it together and email you details. Sorry I couldn't find your email address so you can respond at runningathousandmiles@gmail.com.

    Thanks!
    Kelsie
